Missouri Board of Healing Arts and American Osteopathic Association Guidelines

Missouri Board of Healing Arts

  • The Missouri Board of Healing Arts requires that physicians must obtain 50 hours of continuing medical education (CME) every two-year Missouri Board cycle.
  • The two-year cycle begins in the even numbered years (i.e., the current cycle is 2016 - 2017).
  • The 50 hours must qualify as American Osteopathic Association (AOA) Category 1-A or 2-A credits, or as American Medical Association (AMA) Category 1 credits, or American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) prescribed credits.

American Osteopathic Association

  • NEW Guidelines Effective July 2016:
    • The AOA revised policy to delete any CME requirements. The specialty boards do require CME. Please work with your board to determine what is required for CME.
