Executive Director

Brian Bowles

Brian represents MAOPS at all local, state and federal meetings, as well as with the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). He also directs legislative and regulatory advocacy efforts. Along with the Association's president, Brian visits osteopathic district affiliates, colleges of osteopathic medicine and postgraduate programs. He serves as the staff liaison to the Association's Executive, Legislative, Leadership Development and Physician Health Committees, as well as various task forces and fast action teams. He is a past president of the Association of Osteopathic State Executive Directors.

Brian has been married to his wife Chris for 25 years. They have four children: Miller, Sam, Elly and Mikaela. When not working, Brian spends his time traveling to his kid's events, reading, hiking, fly fishing and making bamboo fly rods.

Associate Executive Director

Chris wears many hats at MAOPS, serving as the associate executive director, chief financial officer, human resources manager and Missouri Osteopathic Annual Convention coordinator. The MAOPS Central Office team has also dubbed Chris as the "database queen," given her keen ability to make sense out of data and essentially make data magic happen with ease. 

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her four children, baking, reading and pursuing family activities.

Executive Assistant

Leigh Haslag

Leigh joined the team at MAOPS with an extensive background as an executive assistant. Her strong interpersonal and communication skills make her an ideal fit for the organization. Her primary role at MAOPS is to assist the executive director as well as online CME. She serves as the liaison for the Wetzel Scholars and Fellows. Leigh oversees a variety of projects, district events and the annual awards program.

In her spare time, Leigh can be found spending time with her husband, two children and family. She enjoys being outdoors, reading, and catching up with friends.

Director of Education & Strategic Projects

Alicia McGirl

Alicia joins the MAOPS team with a background in public health, health and wellness management, and CME project management. She is responsible for planning MAOPS conferences and special events, as well as serving as a liaison to the Education and Convention Committee, implementation of online CME, and working closely with the American Osteopathic Association, the ACCME, and other specialty boards for education accreditation.


Alicia most recently served as Chief for the Missouri Bureau of Immunizations where she was responsible for the administration and management of the Immunizations program for the State of Missouri, including outreach to partners and providers, implementation of Missouri’s immunization programs, and oversight of budgets and federal grant compliance. Prior to joining the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, Alicia worked as an education manager for Primary Care Network, a continuing medical education company. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business with an emphasis in Marketing, and a Master of Science degree in Health Promotion and Wellness Management from Missouri State University in Springfield, MO.


She loves spending time with her husband, son, family and friends any opportunity she gets. She also enjoys baseball, yoga, cooking, hiking, and anything that involves the water! She is excited to put her skills to work for the MAOPS members and team!

Communications Coordinator

Gabby Keller

Gabby is a graduate of Missouri State University, where she studied Photography, Advertising and Promotion. She has a background in design, marketing and nonprofit business. Her duties at MAOPS include the monthly and weekly newsletters, design, marketing and more. 


She enjoys spending time with her friends and family, photography and staying active in the community any chance she gets. She looks forward to combining her passions for design, communications and nonprofit business to serve MAOPS and its members.
