Logan Banks, DO, FAAFP (4-26-19)

Logan Banks, DO, FAAFP is a professor of family medicine and obstetrics at Hope Africa University. He is training the next generation of African doctors and leaders at their rural site, Kibuye Hope Hospital in Burundi, East Africa. Dr. Banks will provide an update on his family's mission in Burundi. In years past, the Banks have shared stories about the challenges of living and providing medical care in a country suffering from a national power shortage. Hear how life in Burundi has changed for the better with the addition of a solar power system at the Kibuye Hope Hospital Campus. The hospital has gone from having an average of just one hour of power from the national grid each day, to almost seamless 24/7 power.

April 26, 2019 • Space is Limited

MAOPS, in partnership with the Missouri Department of Mental Health and the Missouri Coalition for Community Behavioral Healthcare, is providing an 8-hour Medication Assisted Training (MAT) Waiver Course free of charge. The first 4 hours will be in person on Friday, April 26 during our 2019 Midwest Osteopathic Annual Convention. The remaining 4 hours will be individual online course work.

Once you complete the first 4 hour live training, you will receive an email from AAAP with a link for the 4 remaining hours of individual work. After completion of both portions, they will send you a certificate of completion.

If you obtain your buprenorphine waiver following this course, you (or your agency) are likely eligible to receive $500 reimbursement for your time.

Registration: If you plan to attend the 2019 Midwest Osteopathic Annual Convention, please REGISTER ONLINE and add the optional "2019 MAT Waiver Training Ticket". If you're only planning on joining us for the MAT Waiver Course please register HERE.

Medical Residents: While medical residents can take the waiver training, they will not be able to apply until they have a personal DEA number and an unrestricted medical license.

NP & PA’s: This coursework will go towards your 24 hours of training. If you complete this, you can go online and finish the other 16 hours of work to get your certificate.

After completion of the required training:

  • Participants must submit a Notice of Intent form (NOI; link provided after training)
  •  Participants must submit their certificate of completion (provided after completing the training)
