12 Things to Know Before Attending MOAC

Whether this is your first time or your sixth, these suggestions will help you make the most of your convention experience.

1. Download YAPP MAOPS uses a great event app called “Yapp” that can be downloaded to your phone or tablet from your iPhone or Android store. PLEASE download this app prior to the convention to ensure you have all the passwords and permissions you need. The Yapp includes

  • Real-time updates from MAOPS
  • Schedule of Events
  • Bios, contact information, and presentations for all speakers
  • A social feed and networking tools to connect with your peers and exhibitors

2. Checking In All attendees need to check in at the registration table upon arrival. Registration will be open from 7:30 am through the end of the last CME session each day and will be located just inside the convention center's main entrance.

3. CME Tracks • We have two tracks (Internal and emergency medicine) on Friday and Saturday.  Feel free to go from one track to the other – choose the CME topic that you want.  The start and end times coordinate so you won’t be joining late or leaving early.

4. Special Events MAOPS coordinates several special events to promote networking and socializing, present awards and honors, and to celebrate our attendees. Some of these events include a 5k Fun Run, MAOPS annual membership meeting, Exhibit Hall giveaways, Women Physicians Gathering, the President’s Party with dueling pianos, and MORE! Click HERE for more information.

5. Guest Tickets • Purchase your guest ticket early and bring your spouse or family members to the Thursday keynote speaker and to the luncheons on Friday and Saturday.  We guarantee they will enjoy! Tickets can be purchased HERE.

6. Interactive Learning • Many of our CME sessions have been designed to be interactive.  This may not be something you are initially comfortable with, but we have found that physicians truly learn from each other.  When you interact in this way, the learning is deeper and satisfaction significantly increases!

7. Hospitality Room • Enjoy the hospitality room.  It is located on the 3rd floor in the Lake Lugano/Lake Louise rooms.  We have soda and snacks in there and it is another great place to relax with your colleagues.

8. Network • MOAC is a great opportunity to experience the collegiality and support of the osteopathic profession. Bring Business cards, utilize the Chateau’s social areas, learn more about speakers and your fellow attendees on the YAPP, and don't hesitate to introduce yourself (especially to MAOPS leadership)!

9. Assistance • Have a Question? Ask a MAOPS Team Member, who may be identified by their name badge, or stop by the MAOPS Registration Desk for assistance.

10. Attire • Attire for the convention is business casual. Dress in layers or bring a sweater or jacket to throw on if the room gets too chilly for you.

11. We Want Your Feedback – This is an event that MAOPS coordinates for YOU.  Please help us make it what you want it to be by giving us your thoughtful feedback on the convention survey and the speaker surveys.

12. Speaker Q&A– We ask our speakers to move into the foyer after their presentation so that our convention attendees can ask them questions.  Please take advantage of this opportunity, but do move into the foyer so as not to disrupt the next speaker or your colleagues.
